Dengue viruses spread among\u00a0 people through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. These are the same types of mosquitoes that spread <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/zika\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zika<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/chikungunya\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">chikungunya<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> viruses. These mosquitoes breed and lay eggs in still water (in buckets and pots in your garden which has collected water). Symptoms last about 2\u20137 days. Most people will recover after about a week.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Severe cases of dengue usually require hospitalisation.
